Asking for Help: Support for Divorced Moms

Helping hand for divorced moms

Asking for help.

When I was in my 20’s I was in a “proving” mode so I never asked for help. I wanted to show myself and the world “I can do it”. And that is ok when we need to prove to ourselves we can do it. Accomplishing tasks can build confidence. But for me, I needed support as a divorced mom, so it became unhealthy when I did not seek it allowing my pride to get in the way.

Asking for help - support for divorced moms so that they don't feel isolated and alone.

If you are like me, you probably have trouble asking for help. But by not seeking help, are you creating more hardship in your life? For example, I would snap at my sons out of frustration or act as if all is going well with my friends and family when I was drowning inside. The result? I felt more isolated and lonely and alone. The same would occur at work - I was afraid to ask for help or admit I needed it for fear that they would judge me as incompetent. The result? It would take longer for me to get a project done. It also caused me to isolate and be less transparent.
